D-Day’s Lead Airplane Discovered – CAF’s Adam Smith – Warbird Radio LIVE!

ThatsAllBrotherMAINWARBIRD RADIO – The Commemorative Air Force needs your help saving the C-47 that lead the US paratroopers during the D-Day invasion.  C-47 92847 better known as “That’s All Brother” was discovered recently in Wisconsin.  An article on WhittmanAirport.com shares a little about the discovery and how it was made:

“Matt Scales, the historian who tracked down the C-47 that led the main D-Day paratroop drops to Basler Turbo Conversions, shared his latest discoveries about his historic airplane.

“I found out that while it did lead the main force, we had the name of the aircraft wrong. The name of the aircraft was That’s All—Brother. We discovered this fact when we came across this footage of the C-47 taking off from Greenham Common,” writes Scales.”

Today, the Commemorative Air Force is working hard to save “That’s All Brother”.  This Tuesday evening (6/9/15 at 8pm ET) Adam Smith joins Matt Jolley on Warbird Radio LIVE with an in depth look at the plan to return “That’s All Brother” to her former self.  Hear all the details by tuning in for this special broadcast.

FYI…the guys from Warbirds News will also join the fun with a look at the headlines.  Thanks for tuning in.

AIR BOSS Ralph Royce & Old School CAF Stories – Warbird Radio LIVE – Ep523

Old-School-CAFWARBIRD RADIO – Ralph Royce is one of the luckiest guys in the world when it comes to warbirds.  He was the President of the then Confederate Air Force and one of the first directors of the Lone Star Flight Museum.  Along the way Ralph’s served as AIR BOSS for hundreds of air shows and is currently on the Board of Directors for the International Council of Air Shows (ICAS).

He’s flown most of the WWII airplanes we all dream about and he’s most likely flown a few we haven’t.  Sit back and enjoy something cold to drink as he takes Matt down memory lane with some “old school” CAF stories.

FYI: pictures above were taken by Matt’s mom in the 1980’s at AIRSHO in Harlingen (83-90).  Thanks Mom!  Tora, Kermit Week’s Mosquito, Tennessee Ernie Ford and a line of BT’s and T6’s.  Lot’s more in the archive…
