Spares Stash And AeroKnow

Kicking Off Our Move To Our New Thursday Night Slot @ 7PM Eastern! Starts December 8th, 2011.

Tune in as The Plastic Scale Modeling Hour shows how a modelers Spares Stash can  help support the endeavors of other modeler.

This week we meet a man who has taken his scale model collection, books, magazines and photographs out of his house and out to the local airport. Joining us is Job Conger, Founder of AeroKnow Museum which is located just 15 steps from the FBO’s counter at KSPI – Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield, IL.

Job’s life-long passion for aviation history and plastic modeling led to the establishment of the AeroKnow Museum and Abe Lincoln’s Air Force, based at Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.

The research center includes thousands of articles, photographs, catalogs and factory brochures plus more than a thousand built plastic models and almost as many model kits from the 1930s and newer. Job has been saving spare parts from kits and discarded models nearly as long as he’s been modeling, and today keeps them well organized for use in future projects and to share with AeroKnow Museum supporters.

Job Conger is author of the book Springfield Aviation from Arcadia Publishing and a freelance writer/photographer when he’s not holding down the fort at AeroKnow Museum. Tune in for our visit with a modeler who is SERIOUS about his SPARES STASH!
