The Texas Warbird Report – Texas Air Museum and the CAF Centex Wing – Episode 22

WARBIRD RADIO – Malcolm Laing from the Caprock Chapter of the Texas Air Museum joins us to discuss warbird happenings on the Llano Estacado. The Museum at Slaton, Texas has a wide variety of static and flying aircraft. Static displays include the F-14 Tomcat and the F9F Panther.  Flying aircraft include the AT-6, Reliant MkIII and three of the interesting Mitusbishi KI51 “Sonja” replicas.

Also joining us will be Joe Enzminger from the Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.  The Centex wing is home the B-25 “Yellow Rose”  and she is in need of some support. Engine changes are never an inexpensive undertaking. The Wing is also home to a P-39 Cobra, AT-6 and the San Marcos, Texas hangar will soon be home to the D-Day survivor C-47 ” That’s All Brother”.

Texas Warbird Report – Skyler Burchinal and the AF2 Guardian – Episode 22

WARBIRD RADIO – The Burchinal name has deep roots in the warbird world and the tradition continues today with Skyler Burchinal, Join Zane Adams on an all new Texas Warbird Report as examine the Grumman AF2 Guardian and it’s restoration to flight.  This rare aircraft is one of five survivors and will be the only one flying. Built in the 1950’s the Guardian was an anti-submarine warfare hunter/killer carrier borne aircraft. We will also explore the colorful past of Skyler’s grandfather, Junior Burchinal and the history of Flying Tiger field in Paris, Texas.

Texas Warbird Report – Lone Star Flight Museum and Fort Worth Aviation Museum

WARBIRD RADIO – Upcoming events and museum updates are on tap for an all new Texas Warbird Report. Lone Star Flight Museum’s Larry Gregory tells us all about the Taking Flight Gala fundraiser for the new museum building at Ellington Field in Houston. With  Texas Aviation Hall of fame inductions and a Grammy winning artist, the Gala promises to be a grand night of entertainment with a first peek at the new building.

The Fort Worth Aviation Museum’s director, Jim Hodgson joins us for the first time tonight to tell us all about the upcoming Hops and Props fundraiser and more. This up and coming museum at Meacham Field is home to the OV-10 Bronco Association and the Forward Air Controllers Museum as well as an impressive display of static aircraft, telling the story of aviation history in Fort Worth.

Texas Warbird Report – 2017 Breckenridge Airshow & Ezell Aviation

WARBIRD RADIO – The 1980’s and 90’s were heady times in the west Texas town of Breckenridge, Texas. Warbirds from all over the country converged on Stephens County Airport during the Memorial Day weekend for two days of flying that became the legendary Breckenridge Airshow.  The last show was in 1996 and has been sorely missed by warbird fans in the region. This year the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce and the folks at Ezell Aviation have joined forces to bring back the glory days of the west Texas warbird gathering.  May 28, 2017 at Stephens County Airport will be THE place to be for warbird fans!

Chad Ezell, from the famed warbird restoration shop of Ezell Aviaton, will join Zane Adams on Warbird Radio to talk about the upcoming airshow as well as some of the ongoing projects in the Ezell hangar.

THE TEXAS WARBIRD REPORT – “Texas Raiders” B-17 & Collings Foundation Texas

WARBIRD RADIO – An all new Texas Warbird Report is on the air with Dave McConkey from the CAF Gulf Coast Wing to talk about the historic B-17G “Texas Raiders”.  The airplane is moving to a new home and has just finished a fresh paint job and is about ready for the 2017 airshow and tour season.   Rick Harris will also joining us for his annual update on all the happenings at the Collings Foundation, Houston Wing. The jets have been active, the Huey is getting ready to take her part in the Texas swing of the Wings of Freedom Tour.
