First I have to finish the painting on the new plane. Old ones I use a specific check list just as I do in my full scale. Batteries should reach certain voltage and stay there. Check the fuel tank and tubing. Check all the servo wiring for chaffing and make sure the connectors are secure. Check the connections at the reciever. Check the air lines for leaks. Tune up my flying with an old dog. Then it’s time to get the Top Gun plane out.

At our club, we’ve got a couple of fellows who’re comfortable, and have the experience to fly just about anything and they are often tasked to “ring out” a new aircraft. Of course they give the model a good going over on the ground first and if all checks out there, they take it up. It’s always with the understanding that if anything malfunctions or events beyond their control occurs, they’re not liable. No matter how seasoned you are, it’s just good practice to have someone else maiden a new bird for you.

Another thought. You’ve mentioned the airplane(s), but what about checking our support equipment for functionality and a field box inventory for the new flying season.
