UPDATE – X-51A Test Flight Delayed

X-51A stands ready for flight under a B-52's wing.

WARBIRD RADIO – According to a news release the planned flight of the X-51A Waverider is postponed 24 hours.  Today’s delay was caused by a freighter steaming in international waters several hundred miles off the coast of California.  A B-52 from the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base was preparing to takeoff with the X-51A under its wing when the mission was scrubbed.  The watchful eye of a U.S. Navy P-3 spotted the vessel while scanning the Pacific Ocean test range for shipping traffic shortly after 9 a.m. Pacific time.  Weather permitting, the X-51A will make it’s first hypersonic flight attempt tomorrow.  Warbird Radio will post more news on the planned flight when it becomes available.
