WARBIRD RADIO– It’s been a big day for a small broadcaster, WarbirdRadio.com has won a national Edward R. Murrow Award for Feature Reporting. The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) announced the winners of the 2016 National Edward R. Murrow Awards, Tuesday – June 21, 2016. The Edward R. Murrow Awards recognize outstanding work produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world. “Our judges tell us the work they reviewed this year is some of the best ever,” said RTDNA Chair Kathy Walker. “Our winners have clearly demonstrated how their commitment to outstanding journalism serves their communities, states and the nation.” This year, the 45th anniversary of the awards, RTDNA is presenting 103 national Edward R. Murrow Awards in 13 categories including Newscast, Investigative Reporting, Overall Excellence and more. RTDNA received more than 4,300 entries during the 2016 awards season, setting an all-time record for the fourth year in a row.
Earlier this year Warbird Radio LIVE’s interview with WWII P-38/51 pilot Ralph Maloof won the Edward R. Murrow Award for Feature Reporting in Region 12 (Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware). WarbirdRadio.com was also honored with the Edward R. Murrow Award for overall excellence encompassing the entire website and body of work within the Washington DC tri-state region. To date WarbirdRadio.com has been recognized with three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and now the National Award for Feature Reporting.
“We started Warbird Radio.com in 2009 because we believe the stories of our Airmen past and present are important. This history matters, but it sure is nice to know our peers at the Radio Television Digital News Association like what we’re doing and consider us worthy of an Edward R. Murrow award,” says Matt Jolley – host of Warbird Radio LIVE and founder of Warbird Radio.com.
The winners will be recognized at the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City.
