New LIVE Channel, New Studio, New Shows – Warbird Radio 2014 New Fall Lineup
WARBIRD RADIO – As summer comes to a close it’s time to get serious about cranking out some new shows. The biggest news for our Fall 2014 season is that our LIVE channel is back with an all new format. This new talk intense format brings back some of your favorite shows plus many news ones.
More big news is that Warbird Radio LIVE moves from mornings to a weekly evening spot on Tuesday nights at 8pm (EASTERN). Matt Jolley (host of Warbird Radio LIVE) says the new time slot gives guests and fans of the show a better chance of coming on during the live broadcast and sharing their thoughts and stories. “The morning show was great…but 8pm (EASTERN) on Tuesday is prime territory for us. The majority of our listeners are home from work and in their workshops or hangars and are looking for something fun to listen to. We’re hoping they spend some time with us on Tuesday nights” says Jolley. Despite the challenges of a storm damaged internet connection the numbers for the first episode on September 2nd were higher than the average listenership numbers during the morning time slot.
The studio was completed last month but speaking of the storm damaged internet connection, a new fiber optic connection is being installed on the 4th of September. This new connection will eliminate the shaky service the studio currently has during rain. In addition to the new fiber optic line our virtual web player has changed as well. Mike Chilson and his team have made it much easier to listen to Warbird Radio.com on mobile devices and for that matter, any platform you’d like to tune in with. Just click the listen live button in the top right corner and give it a try.
Podcasts of our live shows will continue to be available the following morning so listeners who prefer the on-demand capability can still listen at their leisure. To listen to the recorded podcast just subscribe to the RSS feed or play the show directly from the show story page. You can also download the file and play it remotely from the show story page as well. The new functionality is something Chilson says will improve the “ease of use” for fans the world over.
So what about the new shows? Dave Homewood moves from podcaster to live broadcaster with a new LIVE version of the Wings Over New Zealand Show (debuts September 2014). Wings Over New Zealand – LIVE will be our first show remotely produced from outside the USA. The RNZAF has a rich history and Warbird Radio.com is ready to bring their stories to a broader audience. Zane Adams is also back with a new show: The Texas Warbird Report. Zane’s new effort capitalizes on the Lone Star State and it’s overwhelming involvement with vintage military aviation. Warbirds and warbird operators are almost as numerous in Texas as oil wells and Zane is ready to meet them all.
The Texas Warbird Report’s inaugural episode goes live Tuesday night at 9pm (EASTERN) on September 9th 2014. The League of WWI Aviation Historians will continue to produce Over The Front’s radio version and a new series featuring the women of warbirds is slated to start this fall as well. Hartman & Heins are also back and go LIVE for the first time this fall (scary thought). Their unique brand of humor is addictive and should go perfectly with your evening listening activities. The show we’re perhaps most concerned with is one that our good friend Chris Henry is slated to host.
The Crash Pad (working title) will be based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and very close to a certain non-profit aviation organization nearby. The hosts may or may not work there (at un-mentioned non-profit) and all live together. There’s literally no telling where this show can go but it’s slated for takeoff this September as well. So here’s a quick look at the current LIVE channel schedule:
Warbird Radio LIVE: 8 hour – 2 hour
Warbird Radio Presents: 11 hour – 5 hour
Over The Front: 10 hour – 4 hour – 10 hour
Wings Over New Zealand: 6 hour – 12 hour
Hartman & Heins: 1 hour – 7 hour
The RC Scale Builder Show: 9 hour – 3 hour
