Dr. Harry Friedman – The Warbird Rescue Hour – 6/16/11 – 8pm (EASTERN)

The Memphis Belle Restoration - The Warbird Rescue Hour - 8pm (EASTERN)

WARBIRD RADIO – This week we are honored to have Dr. Harry Friedman on the show.  Dr. Friedman, along with the rest of the Memphis Belle Memorial Association (MBMA) are the reason why we are lucky enough to have this national treasure with us today.  If not for their efforts she would have been lost years ago.  Today the Memphis Belle is under restoration at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.  Dr. Friedman and the rest of the MBMA continue to work in helping with it’s restoration and eventual display in the museum at Dayton, Ohio.  Listen in Thursday night at 8PM EST and also be sure to check out Dr. Friedman’s book Dispelling the Myths about the Memphis Belle.

Good to see my co-author did such a wonderful job talking about the ‘Belle!!

Did he mention that we’ve done another joint book called ‘B17- the fifteen tone Flying Fortress’ due out next month from UK publisher Pen and Sword?

I been playing with old airplanes all my adult life – including the restoration to fly of a De Havilland DH89 Rapide – and Harry is one of the good guys!!!

I have worked with Dr. Friedman going on 8 years, and he and Graham Simons are two of the most respected authorities on the Memphis Belle. As Past President of the MBMA, all that I write or speak regarding the airplane’s history always goes by Harry for an “accuracy” check. For Memphis Belle enthusiasts, the MBMA will have the dedication of a memorial to the Memphis Belle and Margaret Polk on a Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in November 2011. The memorial will be located in Veterans Plaza of Overton Park in Memphis, TN. When the specific Sunday is chosen I will add that information.
